About the Role
The post holder will have a key role in relation to safeguarding and joint working with Adult Social Care, and take a lead assist in raising the profile of the financial assessment service and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. The role is also required to develop partnerships with financial inclusion service providers including Citizens Advice, Advocacy Groups (e.g. Age UK Sutton, Sutton Carers) and other local groups and lead the service as a whole to deliver excellent financial services.
Performance manage the financial assessment team officers - drive high standards of performance across the team.
Be the technical point of contact for ASC staff, advise and provide guidance to your staff and ASC colleagues alike on residential and non residential financial assessments. Ensure you are highly technical and able to complete both types of assessment and training up your staff to complete every aspect of financial assessments.
Maintaining up to date knowledge of statutory charging for Residential Care and non- residential charging policy and procedures.Government regulations and guidance, other associated welfare benefits and IT systems. Keep up to date with changing benefit entitlement affecting service users and to provide a high level of advocacy on the availability of and how to apply for various additional sources of income, including Housing Benefit, Tax Credits, etc.
Take responsibility for employee learning and development and fully optimise opportunities available to them.
About you
You must be self motivating, have a positive outlook on the team's workload and priorities and be able to motivate the team throughout the various projects which may come their way during the course of each year.
You should be a proactive person who takes initiative and who works in collaboration with our ASC colleagues in order to provide the best outcomes for our customers.
Be responsible for your own learning and technical development, keeping abreast of all changes affecting financial assessments nationally. Be politically aware.
Able to resiliently lead by example on your team and have strong performance management skills.
You must take responsibility for completing the complex and challenging financial assessments on the team and also take part in the phone call rota. You will be the point of escalation for complex phone calls and emails for the financial assessments team.

The Financial Assessment and Inclusion Lead reports directly to the ASC Finance Hub Manager and will take a lead in managing and supporting Adult Social Care Services by administering and developing statutory social care services, including having effective budget management and ensuring efficient customer-focused business processes are in place. The service comprises, financial assessments for adult social care services, benefit checks and supporting the other ASC finance hub teams. This role oversees financial assessment for the London Borough of Sutton. The team currently consists of 7 Financial assessment officers.
