This is an excellent opportunity for a female support worker to work alongside a client in Caldicot, Monmouthshire. The client is a lady in her 20s who has complex needs due to brain injury, including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and tetraplegia. The successful candidate will provide support with personal care, medication, feeding, and manual handling, as well as engage the client in various activities.


Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will need to be female with previous experience working with complex needs and brain injury/cerebral palsy. They will need to have a full UK driving licence and possess the softer skills of being a clear communicator with the motivation and ability to engage the client to build a solid, supporting relationship. The role involves supporting and engaging with personalised routines, completing daily living activities, administering medication, providing emotional support, and collaborating with healthcare professionals and family members.

We have an excellent opportunity for a female support worker to work alongside our client in Caldicot, Monmouthshire.

Our client is a lady in her 20's who, due to brain injury, has complex needs including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and tetraplegia. She lives at home with her parents in a self-contained interconnecting bungalow that includes a therapy room where she receives treatments such as hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, and reflexology. She enjoys hands-on activities like crafts, sensory play, cooking, baking, and loves music.

Due to the client's support needs, the successful candidate will need to be female, have previous experience working with complex needs and brain injury/cerebral palsy, possess a full UK driving licence, and have the softer skills of being a clear communicator with the motivation and ability to engage the client to build a supportive relationship.

Pay: £17.60 per hour

Hours: Waking nights (21:00 - 08:00/09:00 nights, Monday – Sunday)


Key Responsibilities

* Supporting and engaging with personalised routines, including the use of hoists.
* Completing daily living activities, including personal hygiene and mobility.
* Administering medication and monitoring health conditions.
* Providing emotional support and companionship.
* Maintaining accurate records of care provided and reporting any changes in the client's condition.
* Collaborating with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Experience in a similar role, preferably in complex care, with the ability to manage challenging behaviours. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with a compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach.


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A DBS check will be required to verify any criminal convictions.
