Prepare and review legal documents, contracts, and agreements to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Represent the council in legal proceedings, including court appearances and negotiations. Collaborate with external legal advisors and stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes for the council. Conduct legal research and stay updated on legislative changes that may impact the council’s operations. Manage and prioritize a diverse caseload effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality legal services. Person Specification Qualified solicitor with a valid practicing certificate. Proven experience in local government or public sector legal work is desirable. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex legal information. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding professional ethics. Proficient in using legal research tools and software.
