Job Title: Principal Signal Processing Engineer
Location: Cowes, Isle of Wight
Salary: Circa £65k depending on skills and experience
Put yourself into a dynamic Principal Signal Processing Engineer role at the forefront of real-world demands in the defence industry. Alongside ensuring operational excellence for our existing products, there will be the opportunity to develop next-generation radar products to counter emerging threats and contribute to our strategy for new technology. Your day-to-day will be exciting and diverse, applying engineering principles across the entire development lifecycle as you join in developing radar systems used by those who serve and protect us.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Supporting the design and development of a signal processing platform for next-gen radar systems, using Systems Engineering principles (ISO15288) throughout the project
2. Working closely with design leads, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to align technical efforts
3. Managing system and sub-system requirements using IBM DOORS Next and helping create design specifications
4. Building MATLAB models to support algorithm development, testing, and performance validation
5. Planning and carrying out integration and testing of the signal processing platform within the overall radar system
6. Encouraging best practices in design, modelling, and integration to deliver reliable and scalable radar solutions
Your skills and experience:
* Strong, detailed understanding of Signal Processing algorithms and their implementation in real-time, software-driven environments
* Clear understanding of the interaction between algorithms, software, and hardware platforms
* Solid knowledge of applied mathematics and proficiency in MATLAB modelling
* Higher education qualification (or equivalent experience) in a STEM discipline
* Experience applying complex Signal Processing techniques within radar system development

BAE Systems’ Radar Sector is advancing next-generation radar and sensor systems, offering opportunities to work on projects across the engineering lifecycle, supporting both UK and export markets.
Our workplace in Cowes is easily accessible from Southampton via a regular foot passenger ferry and BAE shuttle service from the ferry terminal to the site.
