Are you happiest getting hands-on with heavy industrial kit, working in a no-nonsense, old-school engineering environment? We want to hear from you. The Role You’ll join a small, close-knit engineering team at a well-established manufacturer based in Ilkeston, working permanent nights (Sunday–Thursday). You’ll take advantage of the equipment downtime at night to carry out preventative maintenance, inspections and essential repairs on robust heavy plant and machinery. During your induction, you’ll work alongside skilled colleagues on days, receive all necessary training, and get a real feel for the site and equipment, setting you up for success before moving to your fixed night shift pattern. Training and induction on days will be for a period as long as needed, typically 4 to 12 weeks, pending progress. What You’ll Need * Heavy industrial experience as a Maintenance Fitter or Maintenance Engineer * Formal mechanical fitting, engineering, or maintenance qualifications ideally gained via an apprenticeship (NVQ3, ONC, or similar). * Solid understanding of mechanical systems; basic electrical knowledge is beneficial * Able to work independently and follow robust safety procedures * Happy in a practical, hands-on role where some fabrication work is required at times. * Ideally suited to someone looking for stability and good work-life balance Why Join Us? * Nights: Sunday 23:30-07:00, Monday–Thursday 22:30–07:00 – your Friday and Saturday nights are always free * Overtime always available, paid at time and a half and double time * Quarterly bonus (average 3-4% of earnings) on top of salary * Excellent benefits: pension, death-in-service, discounts, and more. * Supportive management: full training on the site kit and systems is given, and some reasonable flexibility is available around start and finish times * A busy and stable site which is well-run, where everyone supports each other.
