Due to continued business growth, our client is seeking a capable and commercially confident Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established main contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work across the East Midlands and Yorkshire. Projects span Education, Commercial Office, Residential Apartments and Public Sector developments, with values ranging from £500k to £50m (typically £10m–£15m).
You’ll be responsible for the commercial management of 1–2 live projects at any one time, ensuring financial control, risk management and profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
The role is primarily office-based from their Nottingham hub, with regular site visits to allocated projects. Hybrid working is available.
Responsibilities
Full commercial management of assigned projects from pre-construction through to final account
Preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans
Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
Subcontract administration, including valuations and payments
Preparation and submission of interim valuations
Variation management and negotiation
Cost forecasting and cash flow management
Risk identification and mitigation
Preparation of monthly cost/value reports
Liaising with clients, consultants and site teams
Ensuring compliance with relevant contract conditions (JCT / NEC)Requirements
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline)
Minimum 1 year post-graduate experience with a main contractor
Experience commercially managing projects with limited supervision
Strong understanding of JCT and/or NEC contracts
Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong financial and analytical ability
Ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously
Full UK driving licencePersonal attributes
