Band 7 or Band 6 Annex 21
An opportunity has arisen within the within the Neurology Department Borders General Hospital for a flexible, enthusiastic individual to assist in the provision of patient health care across the Scottish Borders for those who suffer from Parkinsons Disease.
The practitioner will have/develop high levels of decision making and clinical judgment, be able to work independently and in conjunction with other health professionals. You will assess, diagnose and initiate treatment, investigations, advice and management of patients using professional decision-making processes to ensure safe, patient centred care. This will be facilitated in partnership with patients, carers and families. You will provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives. The role encompasses that of expert clinician, and they must possess the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads, remain focused, work across professional boundaries and be flexible
They will assist the service to improve practice and work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries, implementing and evaluating evidence-based standards, guidelines and policies.

Annex 21: If applying for the Band 6 Annex 21 training post, the movement into the Band 7 role will be dependent on the completion of the training and competencies required for this role.*

For trainees covered by Annex 21 where the period of training lasts for between one and four years, pay will be as follows:
* up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
* more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate of the qualified;
* more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.
* more than three years from completion of training: 60 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
