The Stoke Mandeville Renal Unit located at Stoke Mandeville Hospital is a Satellite Unit of the Oxford Kidney Unit. We are part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
An exciting opportunity has come up and we are in need of a Health Care Support Worker to join our exiting team
Haemodialysis is a fast moving pressurised environment incorporating caring for a chronically sick out-patient population. Previous experience working as a Health Care Support Worker is desirable but not essential. However, candidates should enjoy working as part of a team and be motivated to learn new skills. In addition, you should be able to demonstrate basic patient assessment skills and have the ability to prioritise and organise your own work.
This is a full time position of hours per week.
Main duties of the job
Full training is provided, no previous experience as a Nursing Assistant / Healthcare Support work is required.
As the Healthcare Support Worker you will:
1. assist registered nurses the delivery of planned health care within the dialysis unit. The band healthcare support worker will be under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in assisting the meeting the physical, psychological and social needs of the patients receiving haemodialysis treatment. They will follow a structured training programme under supervision of a mentor to complete demonstrate competence.
