Installation Manager
Are you a highly experienced and impactful leader with a robust technical background in renewable energy or heating? Do you thrive on the successful, hands-on delivery of projects, from meticulous planning to flawless execution? If so, we have a pivotal opportunity for an Installation Manager to join our dynamic team.
Reporting directly to our Operations Director, you'll be the driving force behind the successful on-site delivery of all our projects. This crucial hybrid role blends office-based strategic planning and preparation with essential on-site presence, managing our skilled field teams, ensuring stringent compliance and quality, and delivering outstanding customer experiences.
Pre-Installation Planning & Preparation:
Conduct detailed site surveys and technical assessments for diverse residential and commercial projects
Develop and implement comprehensive Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) for all installations.
Create detailed installation plans, schedules, and resource allocation (materials, tools, labour, subcontractors).
Coordinate and manage third-party subcontractors as required, ensuring their work aligns with project plans and quality standards.
Field Team Management & Development:
Directly manage, lead, and motivate our field installation teams (electricians, heating engineers, solar installers, etc.).
Conduct regular 1-to-1 appraisals, performance reviews, and provide continuous coaching and feedback.
Foster a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement within the field teams.
Identify training needs and support the professional development of team members.
Project Delivery & Customer Liaison:
Oversee and ensure the efficient, safe, and high-quality on-site delivery of all projects, meeting agreed-upon timelines and budgets.
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during the installation phase, providing regular updates and managing expectations.
Proactively address and professionally resolve any customer queries, concerns, or complaints that arise during installation.
Ensure all projects are completed to the highest standards, ready for commissioning and handover.
Health, Safety & Quality Assurance:
Ensure strict compliance with all relevant H&S legislation, company policies, and industry best practices.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor safety compliance and installation quality.
Implement and maintain robust quality control procedures throughout the installation process.
Ensure full compliance with industry regulations, including Gas Safe, MCS, Building Regulations, and other relevant standards.
Problem Solving & Performance Monitoring:
Act as the lead trouble-shooter for any technical, logistical, or team-related challenges that may arise during installations, implementing swift and effective solutions.
Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to installation efficiency, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction, feeding insights back to the Operations Director.
Minimum 10 years of industry experience in renewable energy or heating installations.
Minimum 5 years of management experience in a similar project management, installation management, or field operations role.
Comprehensive understanding of residential and commercial renewable energy technologies (solar PV, heat pumps, EV charging, battery storage) AND/OR heating systems (gas/oil, boilers).
Proven Health and Safety experience with relevant qualifications such as SSSTS, NEBOSH, or IOSH.
Gas Safe registration (e.Project Management: Strong planning, scheduling, risk management, and organisational skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop field-based teams effectively.
Displays high emotional intelligence, understanding team dynamics and customer needs.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are paramount for effective team briefings, clear customer updates, confident complaint handling, and successful coordination with subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
Meticulous attention to detail in planning, material preparation, quality checks, and documentation.
Strong IT skills and proficient in the use of CRM systems and the Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Driving Licence: Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
A competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience.
