Overview
Our Rehabilitation Service offers a Band 7 Physiotherapist role in the Acute Stroke Therapy team.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of an integrated team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and unregistered staff within the inpatient stroke pathway across hyper‑acute, acute and rehabilitation areas.
* Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team, including speech & language therapists, dieticians, clinical psychologists, medical and nursing staff.
* Provide specialist physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients, and support junior staff in this work.
* Develop and implement robust systems and processes to ensure high‑quality rehabilitation across the registered and non‑registered workforce, leading patient flow processes.
* Co‑ordinate training, supervision and appraisal of Team Band 7 colleagues.
* Lead advanced assessment and treatment of acute stroke patients with complex or chronic presentations, often with communication barriers.
* Apply a high level of knowledge of stroke physiology, neuroplasticity, posture, tone and movement patterns.
* Use advanced clinical reasoning to determine diagnosis, treatment, referrals and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
* Plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate physiotherapy input within the Acute Stroke Therapy team, delegating appropriately.
Qualifications
Band 7 physiotherapist with advanced clinical reasoning and specialist stroke assessment skills.
