Who are we looking for?
Barrie are currently recruiting for a Button Operator to focus on button mark and button machining. We will consider both prospective trainee applicants that we can fully train and develop in addition to experienced applicants that can add value to production from the start. This position plays a crucial role in our production process, ensuring accuracy and quality as a button specialist in our finishing department.

What will you bring to the role?
* Accurately measure and mark button placement on garments according to technical specifications and size charts.
* Follow spec sheets to ensure correct spacing and alignment.
* Use approved marking tools suitable for delicate cashmere fabrics to avoid damage or staining.
* Verify placket alignment and ensure button positions correspond correctly with buttonholes.
* Inspect garments prior to marking to identify defects or irregularities that may affect button placement.
* Operate industrial button-sewing machines to attach buttons securely to cashmere garments.
* Adjust machine settings (stitch count, tension, shank height, thread type) according to garment requirements.
* Ensure buttons are firmly attached without damaging.
* Maintain consistency in thread color matching and finishing standards.
* Perform routine checks to ensure proper stitch formation and secure fastening.
* Quality Assurance: Inspect finished garments to ensure buttons are straight, evenly spaced, and securely attached.
* Conduct pull tests to verify button strength and durability.
* Identify and correct faults such as loose buttons, thread tails, puckering, or fabric distortion.
* Work closely with Quality Control to meet luxury knitwear standards.
* Meet daily production targets while maintaining high-quality standards.
* Health & Safety Compliance: follow factory safety procedures and handling guidelines for premium cashmere products.
* Collaborate with supervisors and production team members to ensure workflow efficiency.
* Multitasking: Assist in various other textile production tasks as needed.
