As the Performance Team continues to evolve, we are looking to engage the services of a Coach to support the Junior Performance Programme in the role of U11 Age Group Coach on a consultancy basis.
This role will support the U11 age group and will contribute significantly to an increase in the knowledge and ability within the Team to support the ongoing development of Junior players engaging with the England Junior Performance Programme. The role is focused on identifying and observing players, along with provision of support and advice to players and parents at Camps, tournaments aligned to EJPP principles. The role will involve networking and collaborating with coaches in support of these players and leading on the delivery of EJPP Camp / Collaboration Day activity within the age group. The role will also support annual planning for the EJPP and be involved in selections for relevant activity. A vital role of the Age Group Coach is to collaborate and communicate with coaches, players and parents, which in turn will help develop better insight across the Performance network as to how we can best support Junior players moving forward.
The below provides a summary of the key delivery areas of the role:
* Plan, attend and lead delivery at EJP Camps against identified coaching themes in consultation and agreement with the Junior Head Coach and to provide written feedback to the EJPP Team for players in attendance
* Attend all domestic Gold tournaments and National Age Group Championships for the relevant Age Group (or as agreed with the Junior Head Coach) to observe and provide feedback to EJPP players and EJPP Team and for the purposes of identifying players for invitation to upcoming Camps / Collaboration Days / Hubs (as per relevant age group / level)
* Build / maintain respectful relationships with and be a key contact in supporting players / parents / individual coaches, providing appropriate feedback from observations to both players and the Junior Head Coach, plus attend relevant player meetings as requested
* Represent Badminton England / EJPP Team positively at domestic events, supporting and increasing communications and discussions between players, parents and coaches
* Prepare for, and attend selection / review / player meetings as deemed relevant to age group role and as agreed with the Junior Head Coach
* Supporting the Talent Identification of players for Camp / Collaboration Days / Performance Hub invites
* Ensure the Performance Programme principles and performance behaviours are delivered / maintained at all EJPP activity, and support EJPP players to understand and uphold these standards when taking part in any badminton activity, as they act as role models to their peers
* Support the annual programme planning process for the EJPP Programme and help to positively contribute to the ongoing development of the Junior Programme structure
* Assist the Junior Head Coach in the profiling of players and agreeing appropriate development areas / key goals for players where requested
The Person
* Evidence of ability to develop junior players through the Pathway and onto / engagement with the England Junior Performance Programme
* Evidence of working with Junior Performance Players within a performance environment
* Proven administrative, organisational and planning skills
* Evidence of being able to influence across the network with a wide variety of key stakeholders (i.e., players, parents, coaches) and maintain impartiality
* Can demonstrate a good level of understanding / knowledge of the current international badminton landscape and what it takes to achieve at the top-level (Junior/Senior)
* Evidence of desire to impact and develop talented Junior Players to become the best they can be
* Can articulate thoughts on what English badminton needs to improve upon and has thoughts on how this can be achieved / what impact they can (or want) to have
* Can be innovative / creative in how things can be done differently
* Can create challenging training environments that are also engaging and support and motivate players to develop
* Strong technical, tactical and physical knowledge of high-level badminton from a practical delivery perspective
* Evidence of desire to develop skills / knowledge within Junior badminton / evidence of CPD
* Have an holistic approach to working with players and understanding / supporting development and is highly motivated
Technical Qualifications
* Minimum Level 2 equivalent coaching qualification
* Current BE Coach Membership, including current DBS and Safeguarding Training

The Age Group roles differ slightly in terms of the time / travel required to fulfil the role, with further details below on the role that could be offered. The fee provided is an annual fee and includes daily fee and travel, with this fee being claimable by submission of invoice to BE on a monthly basis, or as agreed with EJP Programme Manager. N.B Coaching at a Collaboration Day or attending an international tournament as a coach for Badminton England / EJPP will be additional to this Age group Coach fee and would be claimable via separate invoice to BE, aligned to fees payable as noted within the EJPP Coach Expense Guidelines. The AGC role will be on a fixed term basis through to March 2026, with the potential of extension beyond this date.
The Age Group Coach will be required to work 4x Gold tournaments, the National Championships, 5x Camps, 1x Trials/Reviews/Selections, 8x Administration days.
