This post is a 12 Month Fixed Term / Secondment position. About the Organisation: Public Health Scotland launched 1st April 2020 as a national health board, employing around 1200 people, and with an annual budget of around £101 million. The Post: You will be committed to improving the health of the people of Scotland and want to make a real difference by joining eDRIS (electronic Data Research and Innovation Service - https://www.isdscotland.org/Products-and-Services/eDRIS/) within Public Health Scotland. Your SIDM role in eDRIS will be that of a Research Coordinator supporting academics, clinicians and the public/private sector to undertake research using health and other administrative data. You will support researchers by guiding them through information governance processes, understanding how data might answer their research questions and by working with analysts and technical experts in getting secure access to data. You must have the ability to coordinate multiple projects, each with its own challenges, and each making competing demands on your time. You will be numerate with a keen interest to learn about and develop NHS Scotland datasets for research. eDRIS has played a key role in developing and supporting Scottish and UK Government’s responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and its recovery through an enhanced research data infrastructure. In addition, eDRIS is developing new research ready datasets such as medical imaging datasets with associated capabilities to perform machine learning and develop AI algorithms in a safe and secure setting. The Candidate: We have an amazing opportunity for you to join our growing team. As one of our Senior Information Development Managers you will: • Help customers access and analyse our many data sets in safe settings in accordance with information governance principles • Coordinate multiple projects, each of which supports research studies from a wide customer base • Be able to elicit, understand and contribute to complex data requirements from researchers • Work to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) but also influence their development as our service develops • Communicate clearly with a wide variety of professionals to ensure studies are feasible in theory and in practice • Plan your time accordingly and overcome blockers so that you can communicate progress to customers • Support academia and the NHS to deliver state of the art research projects • Play your part in supporting the wider research data community (https://www.researchdata.scot/ ) Location and Working Pattern: The post is based in either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Central Quay, Glasgow. We are currently hybrid working; therefore, you will be expected to spend time in both PHS offices as well as the option to work at home. Please note that PHS will be relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow to Bothwell Street, Glasgow in 2025. Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week PHS is a flexible employer, and we are happy to discuss requests for alternative working patterns During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service. It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
