What is our Allied Health Assistant role?

This role under the direction of the Occupational Therapy Coordinator involves providing individual and group treatments as directed by Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. This may include activities such as helping a patient practise dressing, showing them how to use new equipment like a walking aid and teaching them ways to prevent falls. Patients may have a variety of diagnoses and be under the medical care of clinical teams including oncology, neurology, general medical and acute care of the elderly team.

You will also support the therapists in developing resources, initiating new programmes and measuring if ideas implemented have been effective.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn and apply new skills in an acute hospital environment with a variety of patients. You will be working with experienced therapists who value the role of an AHA and you will have access to regular education and supervision.
