Group Accountant | Liverpool | £40K - £45K | 40 days Annual Leave! Job Title: Group Accountant Location: Liverpool (Hybrid) Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 Job Type: Permanent A well-established organisation based in Liverpool is seeking a Group Accountant to join its finance team. This is a pivotal role, offering the opportunity to contribute to the financial health and strategic direction of the business. You’ll be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting decision-making, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities -Support the Head of Finance with monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts. -Prepare and post monthly journals, accruals, and prepayments. -Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations. -Manage daily cashflow processes and forecasts. -Submit quarterly VAT returns for the group. -Monitor capital programmes and maintain audit-ready records. -Manage deferred capital grants and related reporting. -Prepare audit evidence and respond to external audit queries. -Provide financial insights and reporting to senior stakeholders. -Maintain and improve financial policies, procedures, and controls. -Attend finance and budget holder meetings as required. -Ensure quality control of financial data and intercompany transactions. -Provide technical accounting support and training to junior team members. -Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting. -Identify and implement improvements to systems and processes. -Maintain compliance with relevant regulations. -Support wider organisational activities during key operational periods. Experience/Qualifications -Qualified or Part-Qualified with experience. -Strong management and financial accounting background. -Analytical, innovative, and solutions-focused. -Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills. -Skilled in handling complex financial information and models. -Advanced Excel and financial systems experience. -High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines. -Flexible and collaborative approach to work. -Strong written and verbal communication skills. -Committed to continuous professional development.
