What You'll Love We’re looking for a Software Engineer with strong background in de veloping, implementing and supporting Jira & Confluence a s well as general Dev Sec Ops software development ability to be part of our Engineering Excellence team. Our Mission: Increase efficiency and agility across engineering teams enabling them to mobilise quickly and deliver quality, secure, right first-time features for our customers at reduced costs. Enable operations teams to pro-actively monitor and quickly report across critical systems. A Software E ngineer reports into the Engineering Manager and contributes to the delivery of our mission through a combination of design, build & implement ation activity together with working alongside multiple engineering teams across the department, supporting them to adopt new ways of working. The role wil l involve strong collaboration with others - be it learning from examples of existing great engineering work, co llaborating with others to create it or mentoring engineers to use it. This role will initially focus almost exclusively on Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management ways of working, development, configuration and support, and over time evolve to include the wider goals of the team. You r Role J ira, Confluence, J ira Service Management Administer software formulating technical solutions including J ira and its associated plugins Manage upgrades to the Atlassian toolset and associated plugins Manage the development of key system-wide customisations Train and guide various levels of users within the business Provide technical support to end users to help address system queries & issues Manage incident scenarios between vendor and the business Advanced Jira Project administration driven with an ‘auto m ation first’ principal where ver possible ​General Contribute to Licence management of Atlassian and other software Work with stakeholders to understand problems, analyse requirements, develop ideas and design & deliver solutions that enhance engineering productivity Design, implement, and maintain modern DevOps processes and tools to ensure seamless CI/CD pipelines for our engineering teams Collaborate with engineering teams to establish and promote best practices in code quality, unit testing, observability and deployment Deliver initiatives to improve system observability, incident response processes and operational efficiency Conduct technical reviews, mentor team members and provide guidance on adopting cutting-edge tools and technologies Help maintain an appropriate, rationalised engineering tool chain across the department – being involved in proof-of-concept review s & tool rollout Champion a culture of continuous learning, experimentation and innovation within the department What You'll Need Highly creative, pro-active, enthusiastic, conscientious, detail-oriented self-starter Highly resilient, employing a relentless can-do attitude in the face of adversity Able to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences Ab le to identify and manage risks through to resolution Be an advocate for strategy and work with different teams to implement Able to demonstrate creativity and innovation in applying solutions for the benefit of the customer/stakeholder Excellent collaboration, mentoring and stakeholder management skills Have experience working to an Agile methodology (e.g. XP, Kanban, Scrum, SAFe ) Strong problem-solving skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex systems, identify bottlenecks, and implement robust solutions Extensive experience in DevOps practices: Expertise in automation, CI/CD pipelines, I nfrastructure as C ode ( IaC ) and containeri s ation Strong coding abilities: Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, Go, JavaScript) and scripting languages (e.g. Terraform, Power S hell, Bash ) Expertise in monitoring and alerting tools: Hands-on experience with tools like New Relic or Azure Monitor and Azure App Insights Cloud platform knowledge: Deep familiarity with Azure cloud platforms including deployment, scaling and optimi s ation practices Infrastructure as Code ( IaC ): Proficiency with tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation for managing and provisioning infrastructure Reporting: Experience in reporting tools such as PowerBi, Tableau Access to professional development resources and training is provided We have active colleague teams, such as our Women in Digital & Tech team, that support women and other underrepresented groups in tech.
