Overview
Provide 2:1 support to an 8‑year‑old girl with Autism Spectrum Disorder, 15q11.2 microdeletion, Pica, learning disability and significant delays in communication and social skills. Support safety, independence and enjoyment of community activities for the child.
Responsibilities
* Provide safe and attentive 2:1 support in the community.
* Accompany on walks, outdoor activities and personal shopping.
* Support visits to favourite places such as Aberdare Country Park, Turbine Farm, ALN cinema and Trampolining centre.
* Assist with personal care as required.
* Ensure continuous supervision to prevent head‑banging, reduce anxiety and manage any challenging behaviours.
* Promote confidence, communication (Makaton desirable) and independence.
Desired Attributes
* Calm, patient, energetic and outgoing.
* Experienced or knowledgeable in communication support.
* Knowledge of autism and behaviour management.
* Reliable, committed and supportive.
Requirements
* Have a National Insurance number.
* Be willing to complete a trial period.
* Be paid monthly, including appropriate holiday pay.
* Provide satisfactory references.
* Complete a DBS (Police) check prior to starting (cost covered by the Local Authority).
* Have the legal right to work in the UK.
