The Markets Officer role is to ensure the markets are managed safely and in line with policy. You will work with existing stakeholders and help bring new stakeholders to the town market. You will support with the development of the markets. As a Markets Officer, you will work 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday morning and Saturday) ensuring the smooth running of Thirsk Market. The role is a mixture of in person problem solving and administration. Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for: Administration of the market – new bookings, customer relationship management with existing traders, dealing with complaints. Managing the weekly charter markets across the county, as allocated. Taking payment for the markets – direct debits – card payments – invoice raising – completing refunds. Day to day market supervision. You will be key to the growth of the markets by bringing new traders to the markets and ensuring markets are desirable for visitors, offering a diverse product range without diluting the offering. You will need to plan the market space to ensure the stalls are placed correctly offering an attractive yet operational market. Key Skills You will need: Strong inter-personal skills Local Knowledge of the area Experience in customer service Accurate administrative skills IT skills, including use of all standard MS Office packages - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
