Job Description
Role: Team Leader (Children Services)
Location: GCHSCP, Families for Children, Ladywell Business Centre, 94 Duke Street, Glasgow, G4 0UW
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract Status: Permanent
Are you committed with the relevant skills and experience to work in line with the Promise to support the Families for Children service in delivering quality care experiences to Glasgow's children? Do you have the ability to support children in maintaining connections with their birth families and those important to them, while providing guidance and learning opportunities for foster and adoptive carers? If so, we welcome your application!
An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Team Leader within Children Services, specifically in our Fostering, Adoption and Permanence Team within Families for Children. The post holder will manage a team of Social Workers and Social Care workers, offering support and guidance to foster carers, children and young people in care, their birth families, and local social work teams.
Applicants should be dedicated to supporting children in their foster placements to reach their full potential and work with the team around the child to secure a permanent future, whether at home, through adoption, or within their foster family, aligned with each child's care plan. They should uphold the Promise, promote sibling connections, and foster lifelong relationships. The role involves leading a team with a strengths-focused, trauma-informed, and anti-poverty approach to ensure children's wellbeing. Responsibilities include chairing meetings such as foster carer reviews, placement support meetings, and facilitating foster carer preparation and support groups, which may occur outside standard hours (evenings, weekends, on-call rota).
We seek an experienced leader capable of managing complex situations with compassion, working effectively in a busy environment, and prioritizing children's and families' needs. The candidate should have excellent knowledge of the Promise, be innovative, solution-focused, and skilled in building relationships across teams and agencies in Glasgow to promote collaborative working.
Qualifications include a Degree/Diploma in Social Work or equivalent, with a demonstrated commitment to CPD. Experience in Family Placement work is desirable but not essential. Membership of the PVG Scheme and registration or application to the SSSC are mandatory, with the latter to be completed within specified timeframes.
Interviews are scheduled for 20th and 22nd May 2025. For more information, contact Joanne Bradley via email.
