To thrive in this role, you’ll bring experience of supporting service users in a care, mental health or related setting, alongside a BPS‑accredited Psychology degree (GBR), strong communication skills, compassion, resilience, and the ability to work within professional boundaries. You’ll be confident using basic research, data and IT systems, open to reflective practice, willing to complete the Care Certificate and work towards Level 2 Health & Social Care, and comfortable working under supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team. You’ll work effectively as a supportive and responsible team member, safeguarding the wellbeing of patients, upholding confidentiality and professional boundaries, maintaining accurate records and resources, following statutory and organisational guidelines, seeking supervision when needed, responding to concerns appropriately, contributing to service improvement, and ensuring all actions support safe, ethical and high‑quality care. This is a blended position where you will work 30 hours per week as a Healthcare Assistant on the ward, and 7.5 hours per week as a Psychology Support Assistant within the Psychology Department. You’ll follow the expectations and boundaries of each role on the relevant days, working as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to safe, compassionate and recovery‑focused care. *You must live in the UK and have the Right to Work full time in the UK. Student visas are not accepted* What you’ll be doing As a Healthcare Assistant You’ll provide safe, person‑centred care using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Trauma‑Informed Care (TIC) principles. You will: Deliver evidence‑based, compassionate patient care Build therapeutic relationships and engage patients in their care pathways Work collaboratively with nurses, psychologists and the MDT Maintain accurate records and follow all relevant policies, procedures and legislation Promote dignity, equality, diversity and inclusion Safeguard patients and uphold professional boundaries Support continual improvement by sharing ideas and being open to learning Contribute to a safe environment by identifying and managing risks Maintain professionalism, integrity and confidentiality at all times As a Psychology Assistant Working under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist, you will support the delivery of psychological services. You will: Assist with psychological assessments, psychometrics, interviews and formulation Co‑facilitate therapeutic groups and support structured or manualised interventions Carry out discrete therapeutic tasks within competency frameworks Collect, analyse and report data for audits, research and service development Maintain databases, systems and psychological resources Develop and deliver staff training materials Contribute to MDT discussions and ensure patients remain central to their pathway Uphold the BPS and HCPC professional standards Engage in reflective practice and make use of supervision to grow your competencies Where you will be working Location : 190 Barnet Road, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, EN6 2SE Potters Bar Clinic comprises two acute mental health wards for adult men and women, and two CAMHS Tier 4 low secure wards for young people aged 13-18.
