Job Title: Catering: Kitchen Assistant
Reports to: Catering Manager
Responsible for: N/A
Liaison with: Other catering staff, suppliers
Job Purpose
To assist as directed with all aspects of the service of food and beverages to the standards required by the school.
Duties
1. Serving customers at the counter or from a trolley or kiosk as required.
2. Undertaking all aspects of cleaning equipment, walls (up to 6ft), floors, fixtures and fittings, cooking utensils, cutlery, glassware, etc., as directed.
3. Ensuring tables and counters are clean and adequately stocked during service times.
4. Maintaining high standards of personal and general cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with statutory and school regulations.
5. Attending training activities and/or meetings as required.
6. Reporting accidents, fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food, or irregularities immediately and taking appropriate action.
7. Performing additional duties as required by the Headteacher within the scope of the role, skills, and grade.
General Responsibilities
1. Participating in performance and development reviews, identifying learning and training opportunities.
2. Complying with health & safety responsibilities.
3. Adhering to the School’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
4. Covering staff absence outside normal duty hours if asked.

Qualifications & Experience
* Experience of serving customers at the counter/hatch or from a trolley or kiosk.
* Experience of cleaning equipment, walls (up to 6ft), floors, fixtures, fittings, utensils, cutlery, glassware, etc.
* Training will be provided.
Knowledge & Skills
* Understanding of relevant policies and school operations.
* High standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
* Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
* Ability to operate kitchen and cleaning equipment.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Support in overcoming communication barriers.
* Ability to work with children and support behaviour management and SEN policies.
* Understanding of child development, health & wellbeing, and the school curriculum.
* Ability to establish respectful relationships and work effectively with others.
* Providing accurate and timely information as needed.
