Specialist Children's Speech and Language Therapist - Stammering

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join one of our innovative and enthusiastic paediatric teams serving the Doncaster and Bassetlaw communities.

The Doncaster and Bassetlaw Children's Speech and Language Therapy service is currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about working with children and adults who stammer in clinic settings or remotely. This post is fixed term to cover maternity leave.

The successful candidate will lead the stammering pathway for the Trust, providing expert assessment and continuing care. Within the role is the opportunity to support both paediatric and adult patients.

A Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist with experience of stammering who wants to develop into a Band 7 Specialist role would be considered and very much encouraged to apply for this position.

Funding is available for 12 hours per week for 12 months, but variation in hours would be considered, e.g. more hours over a shorter time period.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to:

* Provide highly specialist support for children, young people and adults who stammer, and their families.
* Contribute to the delivery, development and organisation of the Stammering pathway.
* Contribute to assessment and advice for children, young people and adults who stammer.
* Support colleagues across the Speech and Language Therapy service working with younger children who stammer.

Person Specification


Qualifications & Training

* Professional specific degree i.e. BSc Speech Sciences or Masters in Medical Sciences
* Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
* Member of the Health and Care Professions Council
* Recognised formal training in relevant courses
* Full driving licence for the UK and access to your own vehicle
* Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses up to Master's degree equivalent
* Member of Clinical Excellence network, regionally or nationally


Knowledge & Experience

* Significant relevant experience post qualification, including demonstrable evidence working as a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist with children and adults with stammering
* Clinical Leadership experience which has had a positive impact and created change within the service delivery/practice
* Experience of clinical audit and service evaluation
* Experienced in providing student placements
* Advanced understanding of relevant clinical practice, standards and protocols within identified clinical area
* Experience of developing others through education, mentorship, coaching, teaching, assessing, presentations
* Experience of research and/or project management/service development
* Experience of managing change

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
