Job Opportunity: Mechanical Quality Engineer
Location: Oxford
Type: Contract - 12 Months (ON SITE 5 days per week)

Andersen James are looking for an experienced Mechanical quality engineer for a life sciences build in Oxford.
This is a consulting assignment expected last around 12 Months.
This role has been deemed OUTSIDE IR35 - allowing you to work through a LTD company should you wish to do so.
Role Overview:
The Mechanical Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that mechanical systems, components, and processes meet quality standards, industry regulations, and client specifications. You will work closely with project teams, suppliers, and clients to drive continuous improvement and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct inspections of mechanical systems, equipment, and materials to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
* Develop, implement, and maintain quality control plans and procedures.
* Identify and manage non-conformances, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
* Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure quality objectives are met.
* Carry out supplier audits and performance assessments.
* Review and approve project documentation, including Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and Quality Records.
* Support commissioning and handover phases by ensuring all mechanical quality documentation is complete and accurate.
* Lead or participate in quality meetings, risk assessments, and lessons-learned sessions.
* Ensure compliance with relevant standards (ISO 9001, ASME, API, etc.) and client-specific requirements.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
* Proven experience as a Quality Engineer within mechanical engineering, construction, manufacturing, or energy sectors.
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication, welding, and materials testing.
* Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as ISO 9001, ASME, API, or similar.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
* [Optional: CSWIP, PCN, or other NDT qualifications desirable.]
