Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant for 21.5 hours per week, to join our team to carry out all aspects of Healthcare Assistant care, with potential to develop skills in line with the needs of the business and your personal interests. As a HCA, you will be responsible for providing high-quality and compassionate care to our patients and supporting the wider clinical team.
Main duties
Providing general practice services including: Phlebotomy, ECGs, wound care/simple dressings, administering injections such as Flu, B12, shingles and Pneumonia, INR clinics, learning disabilities.

Job Description
Job responsibilities include working within guidelines and protocols to undertake and record clinical activities, collaborate with the multi-disciplinary general practice team, maintain accurate patient records, ensure infection control and safety, and act as chaperone as required.
Responsibilities/Principal Duties
* Under indirect supervision, assist in the delivery of primary health care interventions and care effectively and efficiently.
* Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
* Monitor and order stock levels and equipment.
* Ensure security, care and maintenance of equipment with infection control and safety standards.
* Act as chaperone as required/instructed.
* Maintain accurate and legible patient records in line with organisational requirements (paper and electronic records).
* Maintain confidentiality, privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of patients in line with policy.
* Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary general practice team and other healthcare professionals to promote integrated pathways of care.
* Communicate effectively with patients, carers and MDT members.
* Prioritise and complete daily work efficiently.
* Identify and report any complaints or incidents to the Lead Nurse or Practice Manager in line with policy.
* Ensure clinical practice is safe and within competence boundaries.
Clinical care delivery
* Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for laboratory analysis
* Measure temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiratory rate
* Record weight, height, waist circumference and Body Mass Index
* ECGs and near-patient testing (e.g., blood glucose and INR)
* Chaperone duties as requested
* Obtain venous blood samples for investigation
* Administer vaccines in accordance with the national schedule, authorisation and training
* Administer medications by injection with appropriate authorisation
* Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
* Care for wounds and apply dressings after initial assessment by a registered nurse
* Remove wound closure materials (sutures, clips, staples)
* Assist with minor surgical procedures (sterilising, cleansing and equipment maintenance)
* Assess and monitor patients’ health and well-being
* Undertake delegated clinical activities for named patients as taught
* Promote health and well-being awareness
* Assist with data collection related to health and well-being
Qualifications
Essential
* English and Maths GCSE level C or above (new grade 4 and above) or equivalent
* Care Certificate Award
* NVQ Level 2 Healthcare or other recognised qualification
Desirable
* NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support
* Extensive CPD
* Welsh speaker
Experience
Essential: Ideally at least 2 years experience working in general practice
