Reeson Education is recruiting a resilient and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision in the M23 area of Wythenshawe. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils who are not in mainstream education and require a tailored approach to learning.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working with students aged 11 to 16 who present with a wide variety of complex needs, including SEMH, behavioural challenges, and additional learning difficulties. The school is looking for a confident, adaptable, and compassionate Learning Support Assistant who can build strong relationships, promote positive behaviour, and help pupils access education in a supportive environment.
Learning Support Assistant Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one and small group support across KS3 and KS4
2. Work with pupils with SEMH and complex needs to encourage engagement
3. Support behaviour management strategies as a proactive Learning Support Assistant
4. Assist teachers in delivering tailored lessons to meet individual needs
5. Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote progress
6. Support pupils with social and emotional development as a Learning Support Assistant
7. Maintain consistency and structure in daily routines
8. Ensure safeguarding and welfare policies are followed at all times
9. Be a reliable, calm, and adaptable presence as a Learning Support Assistant
Learning Support Assistant Requirements:
10. Previous experience working with SEMH pupils or in a specialist provision
11. Resilience, patience, and confidence managing challenging behaviour
12. A flexible and dynamic approach to supporting learning
13. Strong communication and teamwork skills
14. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
15. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
16. Full commitment to a permanent Learning Support Assistant role
