Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, capable person to join the Pharmacy Homecare team based at Aintree Hospital. You must be organised, flexible, with an eye for detail and excellent communication skills. The homecare team manages prescriptions for specialist medicines from 25 different teams in Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT). Full training in this specialist area of pharmacy is available.


Main duties

* Based at Aintree hospital, the homecare team manages prescriptions for specialist medicines from clinical teams based at LUHFT sites and the Walton Centre.
* Process invoices received from homecare providers; ensure accurate records are kept and payments are made through the hospital finance team to the homecare providers.
* Answer queries from patients, clinical teams and homecare providers to ensure medicines supplied by homecare delivery are safe, effective and supplied as requested by the patient’s specialist.

Job description

Job responsibilities are as described in the attached Job Description and may be discussed with the office for further information. The homecare team processes invoices from homecare providers, maintains accurate records, and ensures payments are made through the hospital finance team. They also respond to queries from patients, clinical teams and homecare providers to ensure safe and appropriate provision of medicines.


Person specification

Qualifications – Essential
* GCSE or equivalent (including Maths and English) at grade C or above
* NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services or Pharmacy equivalent with 2 years’ experience in pharmacy, OR 2 A levels (pass) plus demonstrable relevant experience
Experience – Essential
* Demonstrable experience working in a pharmacy environment
* Experience of working in a team
Desirable
* Experience of working in pharmacy with Pharmacy IT systems
* Experience of dispensing prescriptions or preparation of aseptic products
Skills – Essential
* Clear and accurate written communication
* Ability to use different IT applications
Knowledge – Essential
* Knowledge of procedures and practices across core pharmacy services
* Knowledge of hospital pharmacy supply and discharge planning
* Knowledge of stock control systems and storage of medication
* Able to relate to all grades of staff within a multidisciplinary team
