Senior Technician – Weld & Frame Structure
to join our Manufacturing Engineering team.
This is a hands-on, technically challenging role where you'll help shape the future of our iStream superlight frame production. If you're an expert in aluminium welding and want to be part of creating some of the most innovative cars in the world, this is your opportunity
What you'll do:
* Play a key role in developing welding and structural bonding processes for our unique iStream frames.
* Support current and new model activities, from process creation through to production readiness.
* Work closely with the Senior Engineer – Welding & Frame Structure, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure quality and efficiency targets are met.
* Deliver the right tools, fixtures, and processes to enable world-class manufacturing.
* Develop and standardise work instructions to support consistent, safe, and high-quality production.
* Evaluate weld quality and dimensional accuracy, leading problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
* Support trials, training, and line balancing to ensure smooth production ramp-up.
* Provide input into tooling, fixture design, and plant installation.
* Contribute your expertise to ensure design feasibility and compliance with aluminium welding standards.
What we're looking
* Expert in MIG and TIG aluminium welding, including manual and (where applicable) automated processes.
* Approved ISO welding qualifications (e.g. BS EN ISO 9606-2, BS EN ISO or equivalent.
* Substantial experience in aluminium welding – manual is essential, automated a bonus.
* Strong knowledge of aluminium welding standards, tubular frame structures, and quality control processes (post-weld checks, dimensional verification, destructive testing).
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Skilled enough to train others, working autonomously while supporting the wider team.
* Experience with Catia V5 (or other CAD viewers) is desirable but not essential.
* Confident communicator with the ability to work across departments and with suppliers.
* Safety-conscious, with a strong understanding of H&S in manufacturing.
* Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
