Worcestershire County Council are looking for an organised and effective Coordinator to support us in implementing a complex Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) Framework across the County.
The Health and Safety team look after the welfare of Worcestershire County Council Staff and several other contracts for Health and Safety Services across the local area. , and this opportunity is ideal for those looking to start a career in this field of Health & Safety. This role can be based anywhere in the Worcestershire Area and will be a mixture of Hybrid of Home working/Office/ and possible site visits.
The successful candidate will work towards being able to carry out a wide range of administration tasks. You will be mentored by health and safety professionals in this role, helping you further your career within the health and safety team. As you develop in your knowledge and experience, we will require you to visit Council and client sites across Worcestershire, and occasionally, several other local Counties.
You will have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), excellent Administration skills coupled with the ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder and client relationships. You will have a highly adaptable approach and will be computer literate with the ability to gain a good grasp on bespoke systems.
Responsibilities
· Work with managers to ensure H&S processes operate effectively within the organisation.
· Input & maintain data associated with H&S activity and processes.
· Undertake and co-ordinate actions required to deliver effective and efficient H&S processes & procedures and sign posting for managers to develop self-service and independence.
· Deliver high quality, responsive and enthusiastic service to managers via all communication mediums (telephone, email, teams/skype and face-to-face).
· Co-ordinate the delivery of ad hoc projects/research/reporting as required.
· In discussion with your manager, allocate advice & guidance queries/cases/change programmes which are above first point of contact signposting and resolution.
· Support the delivery of day to day first line advice & guidance in a timely, professional and resourceful manner.
· Support the wider advisory team & H&S SOP's in any aspect required to deliver the complete service efficiently.
· Provide a dedicated first point of contact for all managers to provide information, support, advice, guidance and solution-based sign posting.
· Support the delivery of developmental growth/ skills/knowledge enhancement of managers through support and training on H&S processes, H&S systems, H&S forms, and policy interpretation.
· Take minutes in H&S meetings and in accident investigations as and when required.
· Develop and maintain a log of managers who have repeated struggles with H&S processes and functions so training needs can be met.
· Check weekly / monthly trackers to ensure all policies/processes/projects are viewed in line with timelines and review dates and raise any queries where legislation changes impact on current polices and processes.
· Deliver training on health and safety
· Collate & escalate to manager where there are repeated instances of systems failures or issues raised with processes which are not being resolved.
· Attend CPD / training / Law updates as required.
· Develop and maintain effective relationships within the wider H&S team for consistent and supportive teamwork approach.
* Work in partnership with suppliers and contractors e.g. Cority, payroll and occupational health to deliver best working practices and seamless transitions.
