This role is based in Godalming, Surrey.
Overview:
Our residents are at the heart of everything we do at the Meath Epilepsy Charity. With person-centered planning, we ensure that everyone remains focused on achieving their goals and maintaining their independence as much as possible.
We require team players with excellent communication skills who want to deliver high-quality care and support while maintaining safety standards at all times in line with company policies. Previous experience in care work is essential, and full training will be provided.
This role is full-time (38 hours per week).
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Provide direct care for all aspects of the individual resident’s assessed needs in line with their care plan.
2. Assist the manager with team management and organize the team in their absence.
3. Supervise and manage support workers and bank staff, including their appraisals, supervisions, and inductions where appropriate.
4. Support senior staff and assist in implementing management decisions.
5. Follow all policies and procedures.
6. Assist residents with personal care when needed.
7. Administer and store prescribed medication in line with legislation.
8. Support residents with mobility and feeding as appropriate.
9. Oversee and assist with meal and drink preparation and serving.
10. Ensure residents receive a well-balanced diet.
11. Communicate relevant information about residents to team members to update care plans and provide appropriate care, noting any changes in their condition.
12. Report accidents or incidents immediately to senior staff.
13. Be aware of safeguarding policies and procedures in case of abuse allegations.
14. Handle medication procedures, requesting senior staff to administer prescribed 'as required' medication.
15. Attend 1:1 supervision meetings with your line manager every six weeks.
16. Follow instructions from managers and perform any other reasonable tasks as required.
17. Implement Meath policies and procedures.
The above duties are not exhaustive; other tasks may be required to ensure proper job performance.
Experience, Knowledge, and Qualifications:
Must communicate effectively with the public, trustees, professional bodies, and other parties, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other operating systems is required.
Essential: Ability to take responsibility, work independently and as part of a team, be flexible, reliable, punctual, willing to attend training, and maintain high confidentiality standards.
Desirable: Knowledge of CQC requirements, a relevant Health and Social Care qualification, or willingness to work towards one. NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (preferred). At least 2 years of supervisory experience in care.
