Are you an experienced finance professional who wants to use your skills to make a real difference in the community?
We’re proud to be working exclusively with UnityMK in their search for a dedicated Finance Manager to join their passionate and purpose-led team. UnityMK is a growing homelessness charity based in Milton Keynes, providing life-changing support to people facing homelessness and disadvantage.
The Role
You will take responsibility for the financial operations of UnityMK, a rapidly growing registered charity and company limited by guarantee. During 2024/25 they completed phase 1 of developing their Wolverton property alongside raising circa £360k to meet their operational needs.
Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with trustees, staff, and external partners, your key responsibilities will include:
* Managing day-to-day financial operations, including banking, payments, cashflow, and reporting using Xero
* Preparing monthly management accounts with forecasts, budget comparisons, and financial advice
* Leading budget planning and supporting budget holders across the charity
* Managing payroll processes, pensions, and HMRC submissions
* Preparing year-end accounts and liaising with external auditors or examiners
* Supporting the fundraising team with financial modelling and funder reports
* Maintaining compliance with financial regulations relevant to charity and company law
* Overseeing insurance renewals, licences, and legal responsibilities
* Submitting Gift Aid claims and maintaining the fixed asset register
* Attending trustee meetings to provide financial updates and insight
This is a hands-on role where your input will genuinely shape the charity’s operations, ensuring robust financial systems are in place to support sustainable growth.
The Candidate
You’ll be an experienced Finance Manager with knowledge of charity finance, who’s confident working independently and enjoys a varied role. Proficiency in Xero and Excel, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues.
Most importantly, you’ll be values-driven, solutions-focused, and share UnityMK’s belief in supporting people to rebuild their lives.

* Holidays: 25 days' holiday plus statutory days.
* Additional: Pension, On-site parking, Employee Discount Scheme
