Trainee Estimator - Groundworks & Civils - Chelmsford
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 + Package
O'Neill and Brennan are currently working with a major groundwork and civils contractor who are experiencing significant growth, particularly within their Essex division. Due to continued success in the region, they are seeking to hire a Trainee Estimator to join their Chelmsford-based team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is either studying, has completed a relevant degree, or has gained some hands‑on experience and is looking to further develop their career within a supportive and fast‑growing business.
You will gain excellent exposure to all aspects of estimating within the groundworks and civils sector and will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced Estimators and commercial professionals who will actively support your development.
Role Overview
* Title: Trainee Estimator
* Project: Groundworks & Civils
* Location: Essex
* Rate: £25,000 - £30,000 + business travel + pension
* Start: ASAP but can wait for the right person
* Type: Permanent
Responsibilities
* Assisting Senior Estimators with the preparation of tenders and cost estimates
* Supporting the commercial team in the pricing and submission of bids
* Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documents
* Gaining exposure to all aspects of estimating within groundworks and civils
Requirements
* Degree educated in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or similar, or with some hands‑on experience in a similar role
* Able and willing to commute in Essex and project sites as required
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail
* Strong desire to learn and develop within a growing business
