Job overview
An opportunity has arisen within Respiratory Physiotherapy for an enthusiastic and dynamic physiotherapist. The post holder needs the ability to manage a complex caseload and will be supported to provide expert advice, education and support for staff and patients within the Adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) service. The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate solid clinical reasoning and clinical skills and knowledge of chronic respiratory lung diseases, particularly.
With advancements in the treatment of CF and evolving physiotherapy management our patients are now requiring less acute care. At present this is an exciting time to be in CF as we are adapting to meet the current needs of patients and changing the way we work. As such, this role will be predominantly within the out-patient setting with and we are currently exploring delivering outreach interventions to enable both the management of short-term issues and long- term adherence to treatment.
This post will also offer exciting opportunities to develop the outpatient CF physiotherapy service and potentially in the future the management of other long term respiratory conditions. The post-holder will not be expected to contribute to weekend and on call respiratory working due to the nature of the role.
Main duties of the job
Clinical activities will include:
· Clinic-based assessments.
· Inpatient respiratory assessment and treatment as required.
· Treatment adherence support.
· Development of holistic outpatient physiotherapy pathways.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Therapy team and the Cystic Fibrosis MDT to deliver and develop this service. As a physiotherapist within the Cystic Fibrosis team, you will develop skills in:
· Clinical interventions to support optimised respiratory care
· Management of a long-term condition including adherence to treatment
· Motivational skills
· Quality improvement methodology
This post will be a static role, working as part of the Cystic Fibrosis Physiotherapy team.
You must be able to demonstrate:
· Post graduate experience sufficient to develop skills in managing a complex caseload, including some experience in respiratory care.
· Evidence of continuing professional development.
· Experience in teaching and development of staff or students.
· Excellent interpersonal communication and team working skills.
