Job summary

We are recruiting a Band 7 NonMedical Prescriber (NMP) or experienced RNLD/RMN willing to complete V300 training to join our Beacon awardwinning CAMHS Learning Disability Team in Leicester. We provide specialist support across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland for children and young people with moderate to profound Intellectual Developmental Disability (IDD). You will work with CYP presenting with mental health needs, high‑risk behaviours and complex presentations. The role also includes specialist neuro‑developmental and sleep assessments. We are seeking an RNLD/MH nurse with experience in assessing and treating mental health conditions (e.g. anxiety, depression) in CYP with IDD. We also welcome applicants with relevant experience in CYP without IDD or adults with IDD. Development and training will be provided where needed. The post includes assessment and treatment of sleep difficulties; a sound knowledge of sleep issues in CYP is essential. A Band 6 developmental role may be offered, with progression to Band 7 following successful completion of V300. Completion of V300 within an agreed timeframe is required for ongoing appointment. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle during working hours are essential. Contact: Teresa Norris, Senior Matron/Team Leader teresa.norris@nhs.net | 0116 225 5633

Main duties of the job

As a senior nurse and NonMedical Prescriber, you will manage a complex caseload, completing assessment, diagnosis and treatment for children and young people with mental health, neuro‑developmental and/or sleep difficulties. This includes physical health assessment and monitoring, behavioural assessment, and direct work with CYP, families and professionals. All practice will be informed by the NHSE STOMP/STAMP agendas, and applicants must demonstrate understanding of these, alongside key legislation and national drivers relating to the care of people with IDD. You will contribute to the outpatient pathway, undertaking initial assessments for new referrals with MDT colleagues, participating in the duty review rota, and supporting the teams out‑of‑hours on‑call rota (evenings, weekends and bank holidays). The role includes coworking within the MDT and supporting day patient assessments to clarify complex presentations and prevent inpatient admission. As a senior nurse, you will provide clinical supervision and line management in line with NMC and Trust policies. Flexibility is essential to meet service needs, including early mornings, late evenings and weekend working when required.
