GP with Extended Role – Primary Care Urgent Walk-in Service
GPwER will provide medical advice, assessment and other urgent medical services in the primary care walk-in centre at Hawick Community Hospital, and also at Borders General Hospital or in other community settings as needed.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a range of unscheduled care services to the public within Borders. The role is fixed‑term until 31st March 2027.
Employment Details
Salary: NHS Scotland National Salaried GP scale applies – £77,160 to £115,167 pro rata to a 40‑hour week. Fixed‑term contract until 31 March 2027.
Working hours: Flexible. As of 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week, with a proportional increase in hourly rate to maintain pay. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata.
Requirements
Applicants must have the right to work in the United Kingdom. For regulated roles, a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme check will be required. Eligibility for and compliance with relevant visa or settled status must be confirmed prior to application.
Due to legislative changes, this post may require a different level of criminal records check. If assessed as a regulated role, appointees will be subject to the PVG scheme.
