CMDP is looking to strengthen their Commercial team with Estimators (Civils, Mechanical or Electrical) for our Southern Water Framework. MWH Treatment and Costain Group are part of the CMDP joint venture that will deliver a range of construction schemes to maintain and improve Southern Water’s water supply and wastewater treatment works within the South and Southeast regions. The Joint Venture has been set up specifically to execute the 5-year (2025 – 2030) AMP8 capital delivery framework. We will be delivering a programme of works up to £1bn over the 5-year period consisting of both heavy civil engineering and mechanical and electrical activities. The Estimator is responsible for the support and preparation of pricing for tenders/bids and other opportunities identified by the business, from receipt of documents through to presentation at tender review and final completion of submission documents. These are remote based roles with some travel to the Falmer office / Southern Water sites. LI-BM1 Responsibilities Develop estimates at all stages of the project life cycle from feasibility and concept through to detailed design stage Lead on the development of estimating strategies and present to senior stakeholders both internal and external Work closely with the bid and/or project team and be responsible for the preparation of the Civils, Mech or Elec Estimate for each project Preparation of the detailed scope from drawings, specifications and a PCD that details the outline scope Identify any errors/omissions from the scope within the PCD Preparation of quantities from drawings and specifications Prepare abstract of material and sub-contract requirements for sourcing and pricing Technical and commercial appraisal of material and subcontractor quotations to ensure full coverage of the scope is priced Participate in the generation of value-engineered solutions/alternatives throughout the bid stage design process and report on the cost effects of such solutions Contribute to the identification of risk and pricing of risks throughout the bid Attend site visits during the tender period Use of estimating software as a basis of preparing the estimate Presentation of the estimate at bid team meetings and final settlement of bid Prepare Top-Down-Estimate using the Framework agreed schedules of rates and Cost curves for benchmarking as part of the review process Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential Formally qualified in an electrical, mechanical or civils related discipline Previous experience working as an Estimator for a major contractor Experience of pricing medium to large value new works or capital maintenance works Customer focused, open and honest, safe and environmentally aware Team Player Commercially aware with a knowledge of the various model Forms of Contract Technical understanding of Waste and Clean water process solutions (preferred) Numerate, accurate and self-checking Full driving licence Desirable Experience working in an Estimating role with mechanical, civils or electrical background. Experienced in pricing medium to large value civil, mechanical or electrical engineering works in the highways, rail, nuclear and water sectors would be an advantage.
