Senior Control Systems Engineer - EV / Automotive - Oxfordshire (Hybrid) Role: Senior Control Systems Engineer Location: Oxfordshire (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite) Core onsite days: Tuesday & Thursday (flexible) Overview We are seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer to lead the development of advanced control systems within an innovative engineering environment focused on high-performance electrified vehicles. This role will involve defining and delivering robust control strategies, guiding model-based development, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to integrate complex systems across vehicle platforms. You will play a key role in shaping control architecture and driving the development of high-quality control algorithms within a technically challenging and rapidly evolving industry. The role is hybrid with 2–3 days onsite per week in Oxfordshire, typically including Tuesday and Thursday, though flexibility is available depending on project needs. Responsibilities Lead development of control systems and algorithms using MATLAB and Simulink. Develop system models and simulations to support vehicle control strategies. Drive model-based development and validation activities. Support integration of control systems into vehicle platforms. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated vehicle systems. Contribute to system architecture decisions and technical direction. Requirements Degree in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics or similar. Strong experience using MATLAB and Simulink for control system development. Deep understanding of control theory, system modelling and dynamic systems. Experience delivering complex control systems in an engineering environment. Strong problem-solving ability and communication skills. Desirable Experience within automotive or vehicle systems development. Exposure to model-based design and embedded systems development.
