Your Role as a Care Assistant for Adults with Autism
As a Care Assistant, you will deliver hands‑on support and care, focusing on each individual's unique needs and personal growth. This includes helping them build independence, social skills, and self‑esteem while fostering a safe, welcoming environment where they can thrive.
About Ty Carreg
Located in West Aberthaw near the seaside town of Barry, Ty Carreg is a specialist facility for twelve adults with autism, aged 18 and above. Set in beautifully converted stone barns, the facility offers both self‑contained apartments and shared living spaces designed to support the diverse needs of our individuals.
A Day in the Life of a Care Assistant at Ty Carreg
* Providing personalised care: Ensure each individual's physical, emotional, and social needs are met with respect and sensitivity.
* Encouraging participation: Support individuals in engaging with recreational activities, community outings, and daily social interactions.
* Building independence: Promote self‑esteem and independence, encouraging each individual to reach personal milestones and celebrate achievements.
* Tailoring support plans: Work closely with each individual to develop care plans responsive to their unique needs and preferences.
* Documenting daily progress: Keep accurate records of each individual's daily activities, development, and any notable events.
* Supporting daily living: Help with household tasks such as meal preparation and light housekeeping, creating a warm and welcoming home atmosphere.
Qualifications and Criteria
* A compassionate and caring nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
* Resilience and patience when faced with challenges, adapting to individual needs.
* A willingness to learn and follow guidance from the team.
* Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
* A full UK driving licence essential for supporting individuals with transport to appointments and activities.
* The right to work in the UK with at least 12 months remaining on your visa, if applicable.
* No experience needed – just passion, patience, and commitment.
