Job Title: Cover Supervisor Location: Wakefield Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time Do you have the ability to keep students engaged and learning in the absence of a teacher? GSL Education are seeking reliable and proactive Cover Supervisors to work in schools across Wakefield. As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes across a range of subjects, ensuring students remain on task and engaged with pre-set work. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience or progress into teaching. Main Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor: Supervise classes during teacher absences across various subjects Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students stay on task Maintain a positive, calm, and productive classroom environment Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies Support students in completing assigned work and activities Provide guidance and assistance where required during lessons Report any issues or concerns to teaching staff Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment Requirements of a Cover Supervisor: Experience working with young people is desirable Confidence in managing a classroom independently Strong communication and organisational skills Ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively A flexible, reliable, and proactive approach A genuine interest in education and student development An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing a new application.
