Overview

Exciting opportunity to join the tracheostomy service. The role requires travelling across NHS Lanarkshire to provide education and support to clinical staff caring for patients with a tracheostomy. The role also requires reviewing and supporting patients in clinical settings and outpatient clinics. Experience in tracheostomy care is required.

As part of a multidisciplinary / multiagency team, the post holder will manage a specialist caseload, using evidence based practice and client centred principles to assess, plan and implement care, provide expert advice and support, operating within a defined specialism across NHS Lanarkshire. To contribute to the development and implementation of a programme of clinical audit and research activity. Contribute to the supervision, education and development of members of the multidisciplinary team. Provide effective leadership within scope of role.

What we’ll need you to bring

* Registered Nurse or AHP with valid NMC / HCPC Registration.
* Educated to Degree Level.
* Post graduate qualification at a minimum of Level 10 (Hons) or working towards.
* Working knowledge of basic information technology.
* This may include non-medical prescribing where there is a requirement for this within the specialism and legal framework to enable this to occur.
* Expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
* Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification.
* The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Effective time management skills.
* Full UK/EU/EEA licence required.

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

* Evidence of personal contribution to service planning and redesign projects
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to plan and organise workload within a busy service
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively across professional boundaries and with all stakeholders
* Ability to monitor effectiveness of own and others’ clinical practice through quality assurance strategies such as audit, peer review and clinical supervision.
* Awareness of the ability to work in accordance with relevant national and local healthcare policies

Contract type

* Permanent
* Part Time
* 15 hours
* Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Location and Working Pattern

* This role will be based in Surgical and Critical Care within University Hospital Monklands.
* The working pattern for this role is 2 x 7.5hr days Monday to Friday
