We are seeking a passionate and skilled Stroke Physician to join our dynamic Stroke Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based stroke care within a modern and well-resourced healthcare setting. We welcome applicants with Stroke, Neurology, Acute Medicine or Geriatrics experience. We are seeking a Consultant Stroke Physician with a focus on developing mechanical thrombectomy services. Applicants must have full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register or be eligible for inclusion within six months of the interview date. This is a 10 PA contract plus on-call. You will provide specialist stroke care across the entire patient pathway from hyperacute and acute stroke management to rehabilitation.
We are looking for an individual to work within a forward-thinking department committed to excellence in acute and rehabilitation stroke and TIA services. The department typically provides an in-hours mechanical thrombectomy service, Monday to Friday, supported by Barts Health out of hours. Currently, we are providing alternate week 24/7 MT cover until further notice.

Responsibilities
* Delivery of comprehensive care for stroke patients admitted to the Trust
* Undertaking ward rounds
* Conducting multidisciplinary meetings
* Responsible for prompt discharge planning of stroke patients under their care
* Teaching and training junior doctors and medical students
* Support the development of the specialty in line with the Trust's strategic direction
* Clinical leadership to the stroke service and adherence to the National Stroke Standards
* Ensure clinical pathways within stroke medicine are appropriate and well managed
* Work with Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) to safely deliver stroke and TIA services
* Ensure appropriate protocols for stroke and TIA patients
* Work with the Clinical Lead, Matron and General Manager to ensure Patient Access targets are met
* Support training opportunities within stroke medicine in conjunction with the Clinical Lead
* Collaborate to ensure processes align with National Stroke Standards and trust objectives
Qualifications
* Essential: Full GMC registration
* Essential: Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or eligible within six months
* Essential: MRCP (UK) or equivalent
* Desirable: Additional relevant medical degree
* Desirable: Peer-reviewed publications
* Desirable: Presentations at international meetings
