An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Research & Development department for a Commercial Research Administrator.

The Government is committed to promoting collaborations between the NHS and other funders of R&D in the NHS, for the benefit of the health and wealth of the nation. The NHS is encouraged to support commercially sponsored research which is seen as an opportunity to participate in drug and device development and evaluation, develop links between the NHS and industry sponsors and generate income to re-invest in research, facilities, and patient care.

Working with a range of internal colleagues and external industry partners, the individual in this post will support UHBW’s Commercial Research function in bringing new commercial research opportunities to the Trust and increasing UHBW’s commercial research income. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring that the information R&D hold on our commercial research activity is accurate and up to date, as well as ensuring commercial research income due is recovered in a timely manner and distributed to the relevant departments in accordance with UHBW’s commercial income distribution model.

To process incoming invoice requests and raise invoices for commercial studies at UHBW.
- To proactively chase approval to raise invoices for commercial studies when invoice
requests are not forthcoming.
- To raise credit notes where applicable and liaise with various Departments and Sponsors
as appropriate.
- To monitor commercial research activity on UHBW’s local Research management
database (E-dge).
- To use E-dge financial tools to import costings for commercial studies to E-dge (and any
subsequent amendments).
- To provide support to UHBW research teams in the implementation of E-dge finance tools.
- To provide reports on outstanding income.
- To maintain accurate records of invoices raised.
- To maintain a list of outstanding invoices that are due.
- To complete study invoicing sheets in accordance with the UHBW commercial income
distribution model.
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of costing initiatives relating to commercial research
in the NHS.
