Groomfield Recruitment are looking for a Design Engineer to join our client based in Tamworth B77. You will play a key role in designing and developing bespoke conveyor and automation solutions, supporting projects from initial concept through to installation and commissioning. Working Hours: Between 08:00 to 18:00 (8.5 Hour shift to be worked within these times)
Pay: £35,000 (dependent on experience)
Duties Include:
* Design conveyor systems and automation solutions from scratch using CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Creo)
* Develop layouts for pick & pack, sortation, and dispatch systems
* Perform engineering calculations (loads, throughput, speeds, motor selection)
* Select appropriate mechanical components (motors, gearboxes, belts, bearings)
* Work closely with electrical and controls engineers to ensure full system integration
* Liaise with project managers, production teams, and installation engineers
* Provide technical support during manufacturing, build, and installation phases
* Identify and resolve design issues, implementing improvements where required
* Produce and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation
* Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards and safety regulations
The Person:
* Experience in mechanical design, ideally within conveyors, materials handling, or automation
* Proficient in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)
* Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles
* Ability to carry out calculations and component selection
* Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Able to manage workload and meet project deadlines
* Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
