Job description - the role
AMS is a global workforce solutions partner committed to creating inclusive, dynamic, and future-ready workplaces. We help organisations adapt, grow, and thrive in an ever-evolving world by building, shaping, and optimising diverse talent strategies.
We partner with Arup to support their contingent recruitment processes. Acting as an extension of their recruitment teams, we connect them with skilled interim and temporary professionals, fostering workplaces where everyone can contribute and succeed.
On Behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Senior Process Engineer for a 12 month contract based in Leeds.
Candidate Profile: Key accountabilities, skills & experience
Purpose of the role:
We are looking for a candidate with a background in process engineering design on multi-disciplinary projects within the municipal and industrial water sectors. With our depth and breadth of skills, our team is currently involved in many exciting projects across the Energy, Water and Resources sectors. Whilst the team is based across the North of England, much of our work involves supporting projects internationally, integrating with teams in our offices across the globe.
What you'll do:
* You will co-ordinate the work of others and liaise with engineers of other disciplines, imparting your knowledge and experiences. You will be working in highly regulated sectors, within a gated design and project delivery process.
* You will be responsible for process audits, investigations, feasibility studies, and the outline and detailed design of drinking water treatment works and associated systems.
* You will also be involved in report writing and the development of fee proposals and feasibility studies of plant operating and capital costs. We would expect you to have a practical comprehension of how your designs will be implemented, and of digital approaches to solve our problems, including the relevant current analysis and design software.
* We operate an enviable graduate training scheme, which is accredited by the IChemE, and as a senior engineer you will be expected to join the mentoring programme and help to shape our future pipeline of process engineers
The skills you'll need:
* Strong knowledge of water chemistry and drinking water treatment processes, including membrane separation systems
* Experience in process design, including mass balances, P&IDs, and water treatment hydraulics
* Experience delivering process audits, feasibility studies, investigations, and outline/detailed design of drinking water treatment works
* Ability to develop client briefs, proposals, and presentations
* Collaborative approach, working effectively with colleagues, clients, and external partners
* Experience supporting and mentoring junior engineers and early careers staff (including line management where applicable)
* Degree in Engineering and Chartered Engineer status (or close to obtaining chartership) required
