Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and strategic Business Manager to lead the operational and financial management of the practice and support its continued growth and sustainability.
Main duties of the job
As Business Manager, you will be responsible for the overall business performance of the practice, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, financial stability, regulatory compliance, and high standards of patient service.
You will work closely with the Directors, clinical and admin teams to implement strategy, manage resources, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Lead the operational management of the practice
Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
Manage contracts, enhanced services, and income streams
Ensure compliance with CQC, NHS, and other regulatory requirements
Oversee HR functions including recruitment, staff development, and performance management
Develop and implement business strategy and growth plans
Manage premises, facilities, and IT systems
Support quality improvement initiatives and patient engagement
Maintain effective relationships with PCN, ICB, and external stakeholders

Based in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, we are a well-established and patient-focused GP practice serving approximately 11,100 patients in the West Wight area.

Job Summary:
To provide strategic, financial, and operational leadership to ensure the smooth, efficient, and profitable running of the practice, while maintaining high standards of patient care and compliance with NHS and regulatory requirements.

Ensure accurate payroll, supplier payments, and financial reporting.
Manage practice and staff budgets and seek to maximise practice income.
Analyse LES, DES, ICB, and other NHS or Public Health funded initiatives.
Operational Management
Ensure compliance with CQC standards, NHS contractual obligations, and data protection laws.
Oversee IT systems, facilities, and procurement.
Maintain robust policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks.
Oversee Practice premises, seeking to improve / increase capacity and usage with a view to alternative / new premises development.
People Management
Lead, motivate, and develop administrative and support teams.
Manage recruitment, training, appraisals, and HR processes.
