About the Role
Our client is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to lead environmental delivery for projects under the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) and other major infrastructure programmes in the Midlands. This is a strategic, hands-on role involving environmental leadership, project delivery, and mentoring junior staff across multiple disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and delivery of environmental assessments, strategies, and documentation across SDF projects.
* Line manage and mentor junior consultants and coordinate with ecologists and technical teams.
* Liaise with National Highways and statutory bodies (e.g. Environment Agency, Natural England, Local Authorities).
* Prepare and review reports on DMRB topics such as biodiversity, landscape, cultural heritage, and climate.
* Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation, CDM regulations, and client standards.
* Guide project teams and designers on environmental risks, surveys, and best practices.
* Contribute to team meetings, planning, resource management, budgeting, and forecasting.
?? Requirements
* Minimum 6 years experience in environmental consultancy, ideally with highways/infrastructure projects.
* Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
* Degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA).
* Strong project management skills, including budget/resource planning.
* Excellent communication and report-writing skills (proficient in Word and Excel).
* Desirable: experience with Section 61 (noise), waste management, and environmental permitting.
* Valid UK driving licence.
