Thank you for your interest in the post of General Manager Theatres and Critical Care, South Sector. We hope the Candidate Information pack attached below helps you assess whether this opportunity is the right fit for your skills and aspirations.
This role offers a rewarding chance to work with a strong team of clinical and non‑clinical staff who provide high‑quality services to meet the evolving and increasingly complex healthcare needs of the diverse communities we serve across Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
We are seeking candidates who will bring the right blend of skills and experience necessary to lead and develop a team of dedicated professionals. Most importantly you will bring a fresh, forward‑thinking and collaborative approach to the role which is central to the continued improvement of the Acute Services we deliver.
The General Manager will be responsible for delivery of the Sectors Theatres and Critical Care (TACC) Acute Medicine provision and patient flow model and will be accountable for the strategic and operational delivery and development of the Service. The role is vital for both NHSGGC and the South Sector in delivery of its aims and aspirations for Better Care, Better Health, Better Workplace and Better Value.
You will report to the Interim Director for the South Sector and have responsibility for ensuring there is a clear focus on the delivery of the range of high‑quality, safe and efficient patient‑centred services required to meet local and national targets. The General Manager, along with the Director, will take forward the development of the Sector’s patient flow model linking with the other Sector General Managers to maximise resources to deliver patient care efficiently.
With strong influencing and leadership qualities you will need to evidence significant experience at a senior level in operational management in a healthcare or equivalent, complex environment and will have the ability to inspire confidence and respect to lead and deliver in a politically sensitive and demanding environment. Key to the success of this role will be the ability to contribute to the development of a strong, patient‑focused culture which encourages initiative, individual and team responsibility and open communication.
The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde encourages applications from all sections of the community. We promote a culture of inclusion across the organisation and are proud of the diverse workforce we have.
