About this job: You will provide strategic direction and lead on supporting and challenging educational leaders, designated teachers, foster carers, social workers and other professionals to raise expectations and improve outcomes for children in care (aged 3 - 18) enabling the council to fulfil its statutory role as corporate parent.
You will be responsible for the following: Deputy Headteacher (FT) Assistant Headteacher (FT) SENDCo (FT) Advisory teacher for LAC with SEND (.6) Advisory teacher for LAC placed in Kent (.6) Advisory teacher for LAC at risk of Exclusion (FT) Pupil Premium Plus Champion - Transition (.6 equivalent, term time only) Pupil Premium Plus Champion - UASC (.6 equivalent, term time only) Pupil Premium Plus Champion - New to Care (.6 equivalent, term time only) Business Support Officer (.6) Admin assistant (.6)
Work in partnership with: Schools, colleges and other educational settings Educational, social care professionals External agencies Voluntary and Community Sectors (including culture, sport and play organisations)
Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the team of staff within the Virtual School to ensure that performance data is used to track progress of children and young people in care and set realistic but challenging targets and identify appropriate support and intervention, escalating concerns when appropriate.
* Lead in formulation of the Virtual School's performance goals, the evaluation of the Virtual School and school staff.
* To take the strategic lead in establishing or maintaining excellent relations with schools, setting, colleges and other providers both within and outside the local authority.
About you:
You will hold qualified teacher status and also have effective leadership and management experience in schools as a head, deputy or assistant headteacher.
