Care Committee Member – Independent Expert

At NCHA, we’re committed to delivering high-quality care and support services that make a real difference to people’s lives. Our Care Committee directs and supports the delivery of NCHA's Care and Support services to over 1000 vulnerable adults and young people across the East Midlands.
About the Role
Location: Nottingham (Hybrid – 2 meetings in person, 2 via MS Teams)
Commitment: Minimum 4 meetings per year
Remuneration: £2,964 per annum paid quarterly
Reporting: Directly to the NCHA Board
Closing Date: 21/12/2025 23:59
Interviews: 12 January 2026 (possibly via MS Teams)
Responsibilities
* Assess care and support services for quality assurance and regulatory compliance according to the Care Act 2014.
* Review and scrutinise policies, procedures and training programmes according to quality management and regulatory compliance.
* Assess all operational risks around care and support, including quality of care provided, safeguarding, and overseeing the complaints process.
This is an opportunity to influence strategic decisions and help shape the future of care and support services.
About You
* Experience: Current or very recent experience in a regulated property-based Adult Social Care business (e.g., supported living or care homes services) possibly as a Quality Lead, Registered Manager, Commissioner, Inspector or similar.
* Knowledge: Understanding of the issues facing the housing with care sector and how boards/sub-committees operate.
* Skills: Ability to interpret reports, communicate clearly, and confidently scrutinise at a senior level.
* Personal Qualities: Demonstrate commitment to NCHA’s values, sound judgement, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Other Requirements:
o Attend meetings (minimum 4 per year), review papers in advance, and keep up to date with sector developments.
o Accept legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship, including meeting the fit and proper persons test under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
