All About the Role
Based at our Barrett Steel, Newbridge, Edinburgh site, the purpose of this role is to carry out multi-drop driving & related duties involved with the safe carriage of goods. The basic hours for this role are 50 per week, Monday to Friday and start and finish times can vary, plus essential overtime and nights away when necessary.
Specific tasks include:
1. To oversee the safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises
2. As required, & appropriately trained, work mobile equipment to load &/or unload vehicles
3. Ensuring Proofs of Delivery are signed & returned without delay.
4. To check the load security & weight distribution according to latest safe working practices at the beginning and end of each shift.
5. To ensure that the delivery vehicles are always maintained to Company standards, reporting of any defects to the vehicle.
6. Ensures vehicles are in safe condition, with daily checks correctly completed before use, & are operated in a safe manner.
7. Uphold all exacting health and safety standards at site, on the road and at customer premises.
8. Accurately update documentation relating to the carriage of products.
9. Maintaining contact with the depot, ensuring any issues are communicated throughout the day.
10. Be an ambassador for high quality customer service
11. A willingness to work nights away when needed.

All About You
Essential Skills for the role:
19. To hold a valid HGV Class 1 or HGV Class 2 Licence (with no more than 6 points).
20. Own a Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph card.
21. Knowledge of working time directive.
22. Previous experience in a warehousing or distribution business, ideally multi-drop
23. Understanding and experience of EHS requirements.
24. The ability to stay away as and when the job requires it.
