Razzamataz Theatre Schools Newcastle & Northumberland are thriving performing arts schools established as part of the national Razzamataz brand, which gained recognition after winning investment from Duncan Bannatyne on BBC's Dragons' Den in 2007. We provide high-quality performing arts education to children aged 2-18, with a balanced focus on musical theatre and commercial styles. The Role
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Singing & Drama Teacher to join our growing team of performers and educators.
This role will include delivering engaging singing and drama classes at our Northumberland school, and providing 1:1 singing tuition at our Newcastle studios.
Locations
Our Northumberland school is based at East Bedlington Community Centre.
Our Newcastle school operates from our own studios — Studio 21 in Gosforth.
Working Hours
16:30-19:30 every Tuesday during term time (Northumberland)
09:00-15:30 on Saturdays (to be discussed)
Additional Opportunities: Potential weekday work delivering school clubs and workshops.
Pay Rate: From £18.00 per hour
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
* Experience of and a passion for working with children and young people
* Demonstrable passion for the performing arts
* Strong musical ability and understanding of vocal techniques
* Strong ability to create performances with young performers
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to inspire and motivate students
* Willingness to collaborate with other teachers and staff
* Adaptability to tailor teaching methods to individual student needs
* Commitment to Razzamataz's values and ethos
Desirable Criteria:
* Qualifications in performing arts, drama, teaching, or singing/vocal pedagogy
* Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development
* Professional performance credits
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging singing and drama lessons for students aged 6-18, covering both musical theatre and pop styles
* Deliver high-quality 1:1 singing tuition at our Newcastle studios
* Foster a positive and supportive learning environment
* Encourage creativity, confidence, and self-expression
* Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the overall student experience
* Participate in termly staff development meetings
* Maintain safeguarding standards (annual training provided)
